Planned Lane Closures on Highway 79

PINSON – Weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation announces lane closures on Highway 79 Northbound and Southbound from Mile Post 14.2 to Mile Post 16.4 as follows:

  • Monday September 12, 2016 Highway 79 will be reduced to one lane using flagmen from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. approximately 3 miles north of Pinson. The purpose of this closure is to install asphalt pavement just south of the intersection of Highway 79 and Bradford Road near the new entrance to the Northern Beltline and motorists are advised to use extreme caution in this area.
  • Tuesday September 13, 2016 and continuing through Friday September 16, 2016 Highway 79 may be reduced to one lane using flagmen between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. as necessary. The purpose of this closure is to complete the remaining items of work on the Southbound Lane of Highway 79 near the new entrance to the Northern Beltline.

State Troopers will be on duty to provide safety for the traveling public as well as the construction workers.

Emergency vehicles are encouraged to seek alternate routes.

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and adhere to other work zone signs in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this construction operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
